Core Concepts

ARC Day

An ARC Day is a complete 24-hour period that includes:

  • Morning checklist
  • Perimeter scope (daily focus)
  • Tasks with timeboxes
  • Training, mobility, or cardio
  • Nutrition (cooking, meals)
  • Recovery (sleep, mood, energy)
  • Reflection (journaling, reading, meditation)

Perimeter Tasks

Perimeter tasks are reusable tasks that you select each morning to define your daily focus. They act as guardrails against scope creep.

Example Perimeter Tasks:

  • "Finish project proposal" (work task, reusable)
  • "Call mom" (personal task, reusable)
  • "Workout - Push day" (training task, reusable)
  • "Review code changes" (work task, reusable)
  • "Meal prep for week" (personal task, reusable)

Rules:

  • Create tasks once, reuse them daily
  • Select 3-5 tasks each morning (unless in Minimum Mode)
  • Tasks are tracked as checklist items

Example Morning Routine:

  1. Open Today page
  2. Review your task library
  3. Select 3-5 tasks: "Finish project proposal", "Call mom", "Workout - Push day"
  4. These tasks define your focus for the day
  5. System prevents you from adding too many tasks (scope creep protection)

Minimum Mode

Minimum Mode is a toggle that reduces requirements to essentials when life happens. It's not a failure—it's a regulated recovery state.

When to Use Minimum Mode:

  • You're sick or recovering from illness
  • You have an extremely busy work week
  • You're traveling and routine is disrupted
  • You're dealing with personal stress or emergencies
  • You need a mental health day

Normal Mode:

  • Full checklist (10 items)
  • Perimeter scope (3-5 tasks)
  • Training or mobility/cardio
  • Cooking, reading, journaling, meditation

Minimum Mode:

  • Core checklist only (make bed, water, perimeter)
  • Simplified perimeter (2-3 tasks)
  • No training/cooking/reading/journaling/meditation requirement

Example Minimum Mode Day:

  • ✓ Make bed
  • ✓ Drink water (2L)
  • ✓ Complete 2 perimeter tasks (e.g., "Check email", "Call mom")
  • That's it! The system recognizes you're in recovery mode and doesn't penalize you.

Timeboxing

Every task has a timebox—a maximum duration in minutes (hard limit). If a task exceeds its timebox, you must:

  • Defer it (with required "next step" note)
  • Break it into smaller tasks
  • Accept it won't be completed today

Example:

  • You set a 30-minute timebox for "Review project proposal"
  • If you exceed 30 minutes, you must:
    • Defer the task with a required "next step" note (e.g., "Need to discuss with team before finalizing")
    • Break it into smaller tasks (e.g., "Review proposal - Part 1: Introduction", "Review proposal - Part 2: Technical section")
    • Accept it won't be completed today and move on
  • This prevents tasks from expanding to fill all available time (Parkinson's Law)

Purpose: Prevents overcommitment, forces realistic planning, creates urgency and focus.

  • Every task has a maximum duration
  • Hard limit prevents overcommitment
  • Forces realistic planning
  • Creates urgency and focus

Training

Training Sessions:

  • Log workouts with exercises
  • Track sets, reps, weight, RIR/RPE

Example Workout:

  1. Create a new training session and select your weekly split (e.g., "Push")
  2. Add exercises from the catalog (e.g., "Bench Press", "Overhead Press", "Tricep Dips")
  3. For each exercise, log:
    • Sets and Reps: 3 sets of 5 reps
    • Weight: 100kg
    • RIR/RPE: RIR 2 (Reps in Reserve) or RPE 8 (Rate of Perceived Exertion)
    • Rest Time: 3 minutes between sets
    • Tempo: 2-1-0 (2 seconds down, 1 second pause, 0 seconds up)
  4. The system automatically calculates e1RM (estimated 1-rep max) and tracks your progress
  5. View your PRs and progress graphs to see strength gains over time

Open /brain in the app. See Brain.

Public API, webhooks, and MCP

Three integrator surfaces. All are implemented (subscribed). Configure them under Settings → Developer.

SurfaceGuideWhat it does
Public APIPublic APIWrite-only arc_… keys: water, workouts, steps, sleep, mood, meditation, cardio, body metrics
WebhooksOutgoing webhooksARC POSTs to your HTTPS server when events occur (including brain_form_submitted)
MCPConnect Claude (MCP)Assistants read + write the same services as the app (https://arcos.corgicy.com/mcp)

The in-app Coach uses the same MCP tool set. The session API (/api/v1/*) is what the web app itself uses; see API reference.

Claude MCP & AI Coach

Connect Claude Desktop (or another MCP client) to https://arcos.corgicy.com/mcp. Always have the assistant call system_get_current_datetime before talking about “today”. Brain (brain_*) is the knowledge vault; context_* is scratch memory. Form submit via MCP still fires webhooks. Full catalog and OAuth: MCP.

WHOOP

Import WHOOP exports so recovery, HRV, and sleep sit on the same graph as training and mood. ARC stays the input layer.

Home, plants, pets, and possessions

World includes house and garden, plant care (overdue watering), pets, self-care, inventory, wardrobe/outfits, jewelry, fragrance, cellar, consumables, wishlist, vehicles, travel, and trips.
